Welcome to Our Classroom!
English 10 is an important year in high school because students take the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT). Students who are successful on the FCAT in their sophomore year have the opportunity to focus junior and senior years on preparation for college or a vocation. During the junior and senior year, students need to be able to focus on SAT or ACT preparation, explore elective interests, and participate in extracurricular activites that provide an engaging high school experience.

English 10 builds on basic skills in writing, reading, listening, speaking and viewing through the study of World LIterature, analysis of literature, vocabulary development, and critical reading and thinking skills.
BWE10 is an interactive web sophomore English course taught at Citrus High School in Inverness, Florida. BWE10 seeks to incorporate technology into the daily learning process of the English 10 curriculum through using the following resources:
1. A daily Web Board where the daily lesson is defined. Students log in, begin the opening
assignment , post via the Internet and continually interact through written language, reading, viewing, speaking, via Internet technology.
2. A class blog where students instantly publish new learning discoveries on a daily basis.
3. An on-line gradebook program that provides guidance and
encouragement to succeed as well as accountability for learning and parental involvement in the learning process.
4. Web mentors, community editors and encouragers who help guide students to deeper learning.
5. Learning strategies that promote learning through the hypertext analysis of literature.
6. A collaborative digital environment that engages students in the learning process through interactive exercises, visual and auditory
enhancements, and active participation.
